MAJ C Alan Hopewell, PhD, MP, ABPP
MAJ (Dr) Hopewell holds four degrees and three foreign language certifications. He earned his Bachelor of Science and language minor from Texas A & M University, where he was part of the Texas A & M Band and was commissioned into the United States Army from the Corps of Cadets. He earned his Master's and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from North Texas State University. He holds a second Master of Science Degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology from the California School of Professional Psychology/Alliant. He received formal Clinical Neuropsychological training during his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in the Division of Neurosurgery under Harvey Levin, PhD, ABPP.
As an US Army Officer, MAJ Hopewell was first stationed at Fort Jackson, SC. He next directed the Neuropsychological Laboratory for the 7th US Army throughout the European Theater during the terror Iranian hostage crisis and finally the neuropsychological laboratory for the Fifth US Army at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
MAJ Hopewell is a Vietnam Era and Cold War Veteran who returned to active duty to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was first assigned as Officer-in-Charge of outpatient psychiatric services at Carl R Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC), Fort Hood, Texas, until being posted to Camp Liberty, Iraq, with the 785th Medical Company (CSC). He is the first Army Prescribing Psychologist to be credentialed with a State license and was the first Army Prescribing Psychologist to serve in a Combat Theater. MAJ Hopewell also served as the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Theater Consultant for OIF, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service as part of the 2007-2008 OIF Surge. MAJ Hopewell is currently the Officer-in-Charge of the Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic.
